class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carlo Guaita, an Italian artist born in Palermo in 1954, takes us on a journey through sculpture (cement, stone or cardboard), painting and books, playing with a demanding lexical grammar that is manifested above all in the titles of series on which he has been working for years now, such as <i>Dagherrotipi, Orizzonte, I Colassati, Instead of poetry, I Vuoti, Enciclopedia Incerta, Fantasmi, Pozzi, Immersi<\/i> ...These are sometimes also the titles of small booklets that the artist publishes almost every year. It is difficult to describe Carlo Guaita's work, so varied and complex is it, but we can find some characteristic elements: the stratification, the play on language, the color black...<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the series <i>Dagherrotipi<\/i> ou <i>Pozzi<\/i>, for example, these are small paintings, made as always with Guaita on the simplest possible material, even fragile, by endlessly passing and repassing a diluted color. The color is not extended but left to horizontal sedimentation. Observed from a distance, the <i>Dagherrotipi<\/i> appear flat and reflective, but when viewed up close they reveal themselves to be absorbent, saturated, and deep. As Denis Viva says in his text: \u201cOften, but not always, black makes its appearance. Its intensity is such that it lets us perceive a presence rather than an absence\u2026. It should be a total absence of light, but paradoxically, it has its own force of emanation. Sometimes it is due to saturation, a layer, a pressure, a tearing. In all cases, it is an absence obtained by stratification\u2026 Under the layer of black, like a kind of overwriting, there are sometimes illustrations. Guaita never chooses them at random, although they are part of a very vast repertoire from which they emerged with a fair dose of indifference. Il est difficile de d\u00e9crire le travail de Carlo Guaita tant il est vari\u00e9 et complexe, mais on peut trouver quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments caract\u00e9ristiques\u00a0: la stratification, le jeu sur le langage, la couleur noire\u2026 Dans les s\u00e9ries Dagherrotipi ou Pozzi, par exemple, il s\u2019agit de peintures de petites dimensions, r\u00e9alis\u00e9es comme toujours chez Guaita sur un mat\u00e9riau le plus simple possible, voir m\u00eame fragile, en passant et repassant \u00e0 l\u2019infini une couleur dilu\u00e9e. La couleur n\u2019est pas \u00e9tendue mais laiss\u00e9e \u00e0 la s\u00e9dimentation horizontale. Observ\u00e9s de loin, les Dagherrotipi apparaissent plats et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissants alors que vus de pr\u00e8s ils se r\u00e9v\u00e8lent absorbants, satur\u00e9s et profonds. Comme le dit Denis Viva dans son texte : \u00ab Souvent, mais pas toujours, le noir fait son apparition. Son intensit\u00e9 est telle qu\u2019il nous laisse percevoir une pr\u00e9sence plus qu\u2019une absence\u2026. Il devrait \u00eatre une absence totale de lumi\u00e8re mais, paradoxalement, il a sa propre force d\u2019\u00e9manation. Parfois c\u2019est \u00e0 cause d\u2019une saturation, d\u2019un calque, d\u2019une pression, d\u2019un d\u00e9chirement. Dans tous les cas, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une absence obtenue par stratification\u2026 Sous la couche de noir, comme une sorte de sur-\u00e9criture, il y a parfois des illustrations. Guaita ne les choisit jamais au hasard, bien qu\u2019elles fassent partie d\u2019un tr\u00e8s vaste r\u00e9pertoire d\u2019o\u00f9 elles sont sorties avec une juste dose d\u2019indiff\u00e9rence. Non pas parce qu\u2019elles s\u2019\u00e9quivalent, mais parce qu\u2019elles participent au m\u00eame projet.
